Whenever I am in Paris I stay at the Jeu de Paume hotel.  As noted above in French, this hotel is a secret, romantic, authentic rare charm in Saint Louis Island, in the heart of Paris near the Opera Bastille and the Notre-Dame.  It is only a short walk from the metro and I'lle Saint Louis has everything you could need - pain, vin, fromage, charcuterie, macaroons.  

What makes this hotel particularly interesting to me as a tennis player is that "jeu de paume" was played in this hotel.  Jeu de paume means 'hand game' in English and this game originated in France.  It was an indoor precursor of tennis played without racquets.  On one of the walls of this hotel, they have a painting of two men playing jeu de paume.
