Le Caviste
In a city where French wines are found, but are not prevalent, Le Caviste (the cellarman) offers a true French wine experience. Sommelier and owner David Butler (previously from Le Gourmand) has done an outstanding job of creating a French wine bar that makes you feel like you stepped into a cafe in Paris. Le Caviste offers unique French wines that you won't find anywhere else in Seattle. They also offer traditional French cuisine - rilette, charcuterie, fromage, steak tartare.
Although not in a cellar, Le Caviste gives you an experience as if you were in a wine cellar, but with a modern twist - interesting light bulb chandeliers, artwork from Paris, exposed HVAC system, chalkboards that highlight the menu. Le Caviste is located conveniently in downtown Seattle on 7th Avenue right before Stewart Street in a high rise on the main level.
When I can't be in Paris, I will be in Le Caviste.
