Green Lake
As I lay awake on this very early moring I can only think about my upcoming recovery run (recovery from injury, not from too many cocktails) this weekend.
There are several beautiful trails to run in the city of Seattle, however there are many paved trails which do not bode well for those avid runners recovering from injuries. As one of those physically injured souls, finding softer trails to reduce the impact is the only answer to help minimize the daily pain.
Green Lake is one of the most popular trails in the city, it offers two dirt trails and one paved. On any normal day there is an abundance of activity: runners, walkers, dogs, bikers, roller bladders, etc. After all it is a city park. I prefer those especially early mornings where the fog rolls in and the lake is eerie yet tranquil. The dirt paths are fine for absorbing some of the shock, but for those days of extreme pain I frequent the Roosevelt High School track. State of the art track material allows me to run dozens of laps and the pain level is substantially more tolerable. Early summer mornings are best for Roosevelt as the school is closed and the track is ghost town.
A few more running trail options will be shared in a future post.
Go run! And listen to your body so you don't end up an injured soul.
