Scarpetta - Las Vegas
Most people get excited to go to Vegas for the booze, the gambling, the “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” moments, but for me the most exciting thing about Vegas is the food. Once I landed at Scarpetta I knew my strategic choice would not disappoint.
If you are looking for a 1982 Chateau Lafite Rothschild, they have it here for $14,000 a bottle. For those a bit more pocketbook conscious they offer a 1986 for $6,500. Now, I would never turn down an opportunity to indulge in a glass of Chateau Lafite, but my corporate credit card barked at me and sent me scampering toward the duck and foie gras ravioli and braised short ribs of beef. The foie gras ravioli with marsala reduction melted in my mouth and the short ribs drizzled with horseradish and toasted breadcrumbs were simultaneously rich and lean. These dishes paired perfectly with the 1982 Chateau Lafite, I mean, the house red.
