Blue Water Cafe in Vancouver
I had the pleasure of yet another fabulous dining experience in one of
our favorite restaurants in Vancouver, Canada. Blue Water Cafe is well
known for their decadent sushi. Started with a dozen oysters and my
favorite were the fresh, buttery and sweet Kumamoto oysters. They pair
their oysters with a vinaigrette mignonette, fresh shaved horseradish,
and lemon. You can never go wrong starting off your meal with some
fresh oysters on ice.
The second course was Aka Maguro (red tuna) sliced thin and pan seared with pickled peppercorns and soy. Pickled peppercorns are a first for me and they have a unique bitter, but tasty flavor.
My favorite dish of the evening was the Hamachi (yellowtail) sashimi. This Hamachi was silky and meaty and buttery. As I was indulging myself, I couldn't help but wonder if I was dreaming it was this good, but my colleague with whom I was dining commented, " this is the best Hamachi in the world!".
