It was a long trek out of the dreary Seattle weather to Puerto Vallarta - a much-needed escape and a step in a new direction.

Reservations are required at this oceanfront restaurant.  The cool thing about Ocean Grill Restaurant in Colomitos Cove is that the only way to arrive there is via boat from Boca or a moderately strenuous 45-minute hike. The hike can be challenging for some, so if you aren't a hiker or aren't in the mood to get a bit sweaty, the boat ride will better suit you. Don't expect to be served without a reservation, although, one time, we appeared without a reservation and the bartenders saw how parched we were from the heat that they allowed us to stay for one beverage. I tell you, the margarita was the best margarita I have ever had, but of course, anything at that point would have been the best I ever had given my distinct dehydration status.

This is a lovely place to relax with a cold Mexican beer or one of their delicious margaritas.
